In Other News…

I finished my internship at Microsoft Research in Cambridge today, cleared my desk and handed in my badge and gun. It was a great 12 weeks in which I got to work with some great people.
Hopefully I got a pretty decent project done too. I certainly learned a lot from it. The focus was mostly on how we might excavate our increasingly digital personal archives in the future, and how we might then hand that content down in meaningful ways.

Soon I’ll make a brief project page for it but I won’t be able to explain too much because it looks like I may be going back there quite soon to get some of the prototypes ready for deployment in a field study.
It’s an exciting thought. Giving stuff that I’ve designed and made to some families for a while and just see exactly (and honestly) what they make of it will be fascinating, and eye opening, to say the least.
